How It Works

We start our day by meeting up at the South Kingsway Boat launch (directions down below) and begin our orientation. After the knowledge section of the course is complete, it’s time to get our equipment together and begin our on-water section. We warm up with a leisurely paddle south to the mouth of the river and into Lake Ontario. We’ll paddle west towards the Butterfly Gardens and then east towards Sunnyside Beach. This warm up paddle is designed to practice/demonstrate our navigation skills and basic kayaking strokes and paddling posture. We return to the South Kingsway Boat launch for lunch, before spending the rest of the afternoon paddling back to Sunnyside Beach for learning and demonstrating our more advanced on-water skills and wet-exit/assisted re-entry in the semi-enclosed Lake Ontario waters, as well as the final evaluation. At the end of the day, we will return to the South Kingsway Boat launch for dismissal.
Course Start: 9:00 am
Course Finish: 5:00 pm estimated
